Baptist Women Missions

Our mission is to connect women and girls of all ages with their God given potential; provide support to missions through prayer, giving and being involved in mission projects. BWMM is a strong supporter of the Girls in Action mission program.

Our goal is to help women and girls of all ages and stages in life strengthen their walk with God, provide diverse ministry outreach and fellowship.

Opportunities for you to serve can be as easy as showing up for fellowship and prayer with other women or being active in children’s missions programs.

Extended Teaching Care

The purpose of the Extended Teaching care ministry is to provide families a place where their children can learn about Jesus while they attend worship services.

This ministry formerly known as the nursery, provides care, nurture and teaching for babies through 3 years old.

"These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

Children's Weekday Ministry

Our vision is to develop a successful program for preschool age children and their parents. This outreach will serve our community as well as our own church families.  The purpose of this program is to provide a Christian-based program where children can be taught Biblical values along with basic educational skills.

Monday thru Friday - 7:00 to 6:00

Double Nickel Club

Our mission is to provide a ministry for senior adults 55 years of age and older. It is not confined to just church members, but reaches out to the community.

Our goal is to provide senior adults the opportunity to:

  • Participate in our prayer chain. Those who participate are notified of people who are sick, hospitalized, or have special needs.
  • Be involved in mission projects.
  • Fellowship and have devotional time.
  • Play games and take trips.
  • Listen to special guests that share information on senior adult health, safety, etc.

The club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month for a covered dish luncheon. There will be some meetings held in the evening, so those who are still employed may attend.

All those 55 years old and up are invited to attend these meetings, what a blessing they are.

Greeters

Our purpose is to serve people who come onto our church property. 

Our goal is to make them feel welcome and comfortable and to assure their experience at FBC Choctaw is great one.

Opportunities for service within this ministry which includes all Sunday services and special services shall include:

  • Greeting at all entrance doors
  • Assisting guests to Sunday School class or finding their way in the buildings
  • Driving the golf cart to assist people from the parking lot to an entry door
  • Manning the Holy Grounds area (serving coffee, hot tea, etc.)
  • Assisting people on the elevator
  • Distributing bulletins
  • Taking pictures of new members

Hearing Impaired

Our purpose is to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in reaching deaf and hearing impaired of our community and to involve them in the Praise and Worship of Jesus Christ.

Our goal is to ensure that those who are unable to hear are not left out at FBC Choctaw, but are an integral part of the life of our church.

Library

Our purpose is to provide Christian reading materials for the congregation to enhance their daily living as well as their worship experiences.

The library team is responsible for check in and check out of books, videos and CD’s. Our team is also responsible for getting materials ready for recirculation. The team receives donated and purchased materials, assigns those materials numbers and prepares materials for circulation.

The Library provides:

  • Christian books, magazines and CD’s
  • Children’s books and videos
  • Bibles with different translations
  • Bible Commentaries
  • Christian Non-Fiction

Library hours are:

  • Before and after Sunday morning and evening services
  • Before and after Wednesday evening service

Long-Range Planning

Our purpose is to establish long-range plans for meeting the needs of FBC Choctaw and the community of Choctaw by focusing on the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

The needs of this ministry will be met by:

  • Setting long-range objectives, goals, and strategies for ministry.
  • Presenting specific long-range plans to the church.
  • Establishing long-range plans by developing church-wide surveys and doing demographic studies.
  • Advising the pastor and deacon body regarding long-range ministry needs that relate to mission opportunities, needs for facility upgrades, and other means needed for ministry outreach programs.

Meals for New Moms

Our purpose is to minister in celebration and love to FBCC parents and siblings of new babies by providing and delivering a meal once a day for the family for a week after their return home from the hospital.  

Opportunities for service within this ministry will include providing a meal (or part of a meal) for FBCC parents and siblings when they bring a new baby home from the hospital.

This Ministry Team will be active anytime there is a new arrival into the FBC Choctaw family.

Men's Ministry

Our purpose is to walk alongside men to discover and live out biblical manhood. 1Thessalonians 2:1-12

Our goal is to provide opportunities for boys and men to: 

  • Discover their spiritual Gifts
  • Increase their knowledge of God
  • Serve God and people
  • Communicate the Gospel
  • Invest in others by meeting needs
  • Practice spiritual disciplines
  • Lead people onto God’s agenda
  • Exercise biblical stewardship

Men's Prayer Breakfast

A constant truth is that God blesses the efforts of men who pray, seek His power, and Trust his will for their lives..

Military Families

Our purpose is to provide ministry to those in our church and community who are currently serving in our Armed Forces. This ministry will not only focus on individual service members, but also his/her families.

The Military Families Ministry Team will support these efforts through:

  • Providing support groups for service members and their families.
  • Using letters, e-mail, care packages, etc. to communicate with service members currently serving in foreign wars.
  • Maintaining continual contact with family members of service personnel to provide emotional and spiritual support while ascertaining individual needs that can be met by FBC Choctaw.
  • Providing fellowship for service members and family members periodically as a means of sharing and bonding as a group.

“Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there. If I take wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”

Missions Awareness

Our mission is to provide resources necessary to educate and involve members of all ages in ministry to the lost and those in need in our community and around the world.

The Missions Team will plan, promote and facilitate awareness of ministry needs through missions offerings, mission projects, mission trips, Men’s Ministry,  Women’s Missions, RA’S, GA’S and children/youth mission programs.

Mobile Meals

Our purpose is to glorify God by providing nutritious meals and fellowship for the frail and homebound in our community.

In partnership with other churches, we have volunteers that deliver meals every Thursday to those in our community that would otherwise be unable to prepare or go out for meals.

Often the only human contact some of the people we deliver to is from Mobile Meals volunteers. Volunteers not only deliver meals, but show the love of our church  with sincere fellowship.

Music

Our purpose is to under gird spiritually and physically the work of the music ministry and the Minister of Music as they work together to express through music a ministry to the Lord in worship, to the Lord’s people by edifying the body of Christ, and to the world by testifying of God’s redemptive work through Jesus Christ.

The Music Ministry team will support these efforts through:

  • Participation in the Music Ministry
  • Working to actively promote and encourage participation in all areas of the Music Ministry to the entire body.
  • Working with the Minister of Music to evaluate and offer suggestions and ideas concerning the function of both existing and potential new areas of ministry.
  • Providing logistical support that supports the work of the music ministry and the Minister of Music in preparation for the presentation of all music-related events, both large and small.

Operations

Our purpose is to plan, establish and maintain an environment that effectively supports the goals and objectives of First Baptist Church Choctaw. 

The Operations team will support these efforts through assisting the church in all matters directly related to the administration of all church property.

The team is responsible for maintaining church property and equipment, maintaining an attractive church lawn and grounds, and recommending needed capital improvements.

The team is committed to working together through a common process by established guidelines.

Personnel


Prayer & Spiritual Awakening

Our purpose is to bring glory and honor to the name of Jesus Christ through prayer.  We call upon the mercy and divine power of our Lord to intervene in the lives of the hurting, to bring revival to the nation, to meet special needs and to celebrate His answers.

Opportunities to serve in this ministry will be to pray for the needs of our church and church members, and to organize special prayer times for revivals, VBS, Falls Creek, musical performances, etc.

Preschool/Children's

The purpose of the preshcool/children's ministries of FBC Choctaw is to help preschooler's, children, and their families know Jesus, love Jesus, and live for Jesus.

  • TeamKID (Wednesday evening program)
  • Missions education

Publicity

Our purpose is to communicate and promote activities, functions and special events that will be an outreach to our church and community.

The Publicity Team works with other church ministry teams in designing and providing advertising or promotional materials such as posters, banners, flyers, newspaper advertisements, billboards, etc.

Recreation

At FBC Choctaw, we believe that God promises us abundant life and wants us to have a good time on this earth.  For this reason, we provide a variety of opportunities and events specifically designed just for you!!  Whether you are in Kindergarten or have great-grandchildren in Kindergarten, we would love for you to join us sometime to have fun and enjoy the life that God has given to us.  Here are just a few things that you have got to check out!

  • Upward Flag Football (in the Fall) for children 1st through 6th grade
  • Upward Basketball (in the Winter) for children Kindergarten through 6th grade
  • Upward Cheerleading (in the Fall and Winter) for children Kindergarten through 6th grade
  • Upward Soccer (in the Spring) for children Kindergarten through 6th grade
    • The Upward program is designed and devoted to providing an environment that everyone can enjoy.  If you are looking for a league for your child that teaches him/her the fundamentals of sports, provides him/her with equal playing time, and teaches him/her good character, self-esteem, and a Christ-like attitude, then give us a call!!  The Upward program continues all school year long, so there is always an activity in which your child can be involved.   • Friday Night Hoops – Every Friday night in the Activities Building from 6:30 until about 9:30 (stop by whenever you can).  We’ll have snacks and Gatorade for your refreshment and everyone is invited to play – especially you!!
  • Game Night – About once a month, on Friday night starting at 6:00 we play board games, card games, Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2 (and have snacks).
  • 3-on-3 Tournaments – About once every three months, we have a 3-on-3 basketball tournament that is open for anyone to join, even if you don’t have a team (we can get one together for you).  It is always TOTALLY FREE and we give trophies to the winners.
  • The Church Picnic – A classic every year!  We throw some horseshoes, play basketball and flag football, eat some awesome grilled burgers and dogs, and enjoy a free concert.
  • Family Ski Trip – Open to all, if you enjoy skiing, the mountains, and snow, then this trip is just for you!!
  • Golf TournamentAt least once a year, usually in the spring.  Open for all skill levels and ages!

Shower

Our purpose is to provide a time for Brides and First Time Mothers to have a shower with church members. This is an opportunity for church members to fellowship with other members.

The Shower Ministry Team provides a shower for Brides and First Time Mothers who are church members. These showers are provided at no cost to the member.  The team decorates and hosts the shower.

Sisters in Support

Our purpose is to provide a group of ladies to share their life experiences with other Christian women to receive encouragement, comfort and prayer. We meet for approximately one hour to share positive things that God is doing in our lives and to share concerns for prayer for the next month.

Our goal is to create a bond between the ladies who meet together where each one feels she can openly share her thoughts and concerns, and for each one to pray for the lives of the ladies in our group.

We meet once a month at 6:30 in the first classroom on the right entering the white and blue building from the west end of the building. The day for each month is published in the church bulletin.

Special Meals


Student Ministry

Today's young people face many pressures and need a solid foundation in Christian living in order to deal with these constant pressures.  Our Student Ministry seeks to help teenagers to grow spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically.  We offer a variety of activities, retreats, and camps as well as a full program of Bible Study and Discipleship.  These are all designed to help youth mature as Christians to experience abundant life in Christ.

Servants With A Task

Our mission, should you choose to accept it, is to reach out to people and families in our community and demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.

S.W.A.T. is comprised of servants that help widows, single moms, elderly or disabled with routine home maintenance, which could include general repairs, yard work, roofing, painting, cleaning, etc.

S.W.A.T. utilizes those with construction skills and those that just have the gift of helping others.

The goal of S.W.A.T. is to help others and lead those to the Master Carpenter.

Technical

The Technical Ministry Team is a behind the scenes support ministry that seeks to enhance the worship experience for our members, regular attendees and visitors.

We strive to create a technically excellent environment without being a distraction to the worshipers.

The Technical Ministry Team is there when people need multimedia video presentations, sound reinforcement, and lighting for various events, including every Sunday morning service.

The Technical Ministry Team consists of Audio, Computer Graphics and Lighting teams. If you have a technical gift but do not necessarily fall under one of the descriptions above please still contact us.

We need those who want to serve in the Technical Ministry area.

Ushers

Our purpose is to be a servant of the pastor, church staff, and the congregation.  The usher team meets their needs so “church” can be worshipful and without distractions.

This ministry allows men in our church to serve by collecting tithes and offerings, and providing information cards to first time guests.
