"Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it." - Lou Holtz

Summer Kickboxing and Bootcamp classes are in session!

Our mission is to enhance physical stewardship of our bodies through exercise; and to heighten Christian fellowship, and build relationships through contact in an informal setting.

In I Corinthians 9:19-20, Paul states  "Do you know that your body is a temple of the Holy spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own: you were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body."  One of the ways we can honor God with our bodies is by eating right and exercising.  When our bodies are well taken care of and treated with respect, it becomes easier to be spiritually disciplined and maintain a positive, spiritual, and healthy lifestyle.

COMMIT to FIT PROGRAM
This 7 week nutritional program was designed to provide weight loss and decreased body fat, by increasing metabolism and helping control blood sugar levels.   For maximum benefits, this program should be done in addition to at least 3 days of exercise per week.  For long term success, each life habit should be done in the correct order, and implemented one week at a time.  A point is earned for each life habit you complete per day.  Strive for at least 80% of points possible over the 7 weeks.

 Class Testimony Minimize

I was reluctant to start. I was afraid I could not keep up with such an intense work out. I a was your typical yo yo dieting, been there, done that, type of girl. I had struggled with my weight my entire life. At the age of 13 I had become anorexic. I was nothing but flesh hanging on bones. After a loving mother forced me into treatments, I gained the weight back. By the time I was 21 I weighed 265 pounds. My family feared for my life. I fell off the deep end again when a complete stranger laughed at me and called me fat. I then became bulimic. I lost the weight again and by the time I hit my thirties I had yo-yoed  to the degree of being one unhealthy person. My self image was still shattered, so I continued on strange paths to "look" better. I walked at least an hour everyday but still no real success as far as weight lose or feeling good inside and out. By the time I hit 40, I was near death. I could barely function. I couldn't stand, I could barely see or think clearly. I had mistreated my body to the degree that it no longer wanted to live. My blood pressure was going higher than it ever had and my resting heart rate was 99. I was forced into a drastic life change. It took me 5 years to begin to feel somewhat normal again. Very strict diet, that made me feel miserable. Then comes now- God heard my prayers and made a way for me to be introduced to Kim and her kickboxing class. I was nervous the 1st day, but Kim made it such a pleasant experience. With her motivation and drive you can't help but give it your 110%. Something I have never done. I love that we pray after class, and that we listen to christian rock while we work out. Everything about kickboxing has been a blessing and lifesaver. Since I've joined in 09, I have lost 22 pounds. my blood pressure avg, is 101/65 and my resting heart rate is 57! At 46 I feel better than I ever have in my life. I take no medications and with Kim's direction on diet, for the 1st time in my life I have learned how to eat, enjoy my food and still lose weight and be healthy. Also my dad passed away suddenly Sept 09. I could had easily locked myself away and ate myself into an early grave. Instead I pushed myself to go to class. I knew that exercise would keep me from sinking into a deep depression. I was right. During and after a workout I feel powerful, strong and motivated. Depression has no place when your beating, kicking and hitting on bags. I thank God for my new life, and I thank God for Kim. Life is good. This is more than another exercise class, this is a healing ministry. -  Doronda Sykes

 FITNESS MINISTRY LEADERS....

Kim Reeves has worked in the fitness field for over 15 years. She had a background of gymnastics and cheerleading, that originally sparked her interest in fitness.  As a college cheerleader she was required to attend aerobics classes and decided to get certified to be an instructor.  She has instructed courses in both the collegiate and recreational settings.  Kim holds a MEd in Health/Physical Education from The University of Central OK, and a BS in Health Promotions/Community Wellness from Oklahoma State University.  She is a Nationally certified group fitness instructor through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA).  Kim and her husband have two young children, and have been attending FBC for over 10 years.  She is very thankful the Lord blessed her with a husband that has been involved and supportive, of both the vision and growth of this ministry.  "I am amazed at how the Lord continues to unfold His plans for my life, by using  prior experiences to prepare me for such a time as this.  I'm so thankful to be called to such a rewarding ministry, and enjoy helping  people experience positive changes as they work to achieve the goals they set".

Sara Hale has attended classes since the ministry started over 2 years ago.  She has 15 years of dance (jazz, tap, ballet) experience, which helped make this class a perfect fit for her.  Sara has become a great asset to the ministry by assisting in various roles.  She has recently become cetified through the YMCA as a Group Fitness Instructor, and currently teaches the Thursday morning class.  She is a stay at home mom of 4 boys, and has been blessed with an amazing husband that attends classes with her as well.  They have been attending FBC for over 5 years. "Our Sunday School class is where I became friends with Kim and begged to be in her class.  I'm so thankful God has put her in my life.  In the last two years I have realized the great importance of being physically fit in my life, and my families' lives.  I look forward to helping others make changes in their lives as well".
